Read: Why Fonts Matter
Davy regularly attends Design and Art Direction events. When D&AD came to London, he attended a master class in typography with Sarah Hyndman. The graphic designer and keynote speaker explained how fonts can take on different personalities and trigger memories. Did you know that fonts can even add a flavour to letters? Or make something seem easier than it really is? All these insights from Hyndman’s master class triggered Davy to buy her book “Why Fonts Matter”. Marketing done right.
Watch: Abstract: The Art of Design
Each episode of this documentary series highlights a designer with a specific expertise. The episode with the American graphic designer Paula Scher particularly stood out to Davy. “Scher explains how she ‘paints’ with words and how she developed her own visual language from there”, Davy says. “With that language, she showcases the power of graphic design. Must-see.”
